I spent the day with the children, and their smiles and perseverance stole my heart. I learned my first few words in sign language while I visited their classes and played with them on the playground.
The good news is that Ephatha Children’s School for the deaf provides education to 118 children in Burundi…the bad news is that they are in dire need of funding to continue the school. There is not an audiologist in the country, and Ephatha is the only school for deaf children in the entire country. Many of the children lost their hearing as infants after coming down with Meningitis or Malaria. Want to help Silent Images restore a voice to these children?
